stay away from fat, because it will make me fat, clog up my arteries, raise my blood pressure, and pretty much every other health problem there is. Even when training to be a PT the nutrition advice what we are taught to promote is low-fat.
As most people are starting to now realise, fat doesn’t make you fat, and isn’t the demon its been made out to be in the media. All of my clients eat substantial amounts of fat and saturated fat, and all get results. why? High fat diets (saturated and monounsaturated fats) are directly linked to increased testosterone levels. In this study 12 male participants were asked to collate data on food and nutrients they consumed over a 17 day period, whilst collecting this information, all subjects completed an identical bench press exercise protocol and a jump squat exercise protocol (performed on consecutive days) on two occasions separated by 1 week, testosterone levels were tested through blood samples before working out and after, and individuals who consumed more dietary fat, in particular saturated, and monounsaturated fat, had higher resting testosterone levels then the the rest.
Quoting the study,
“These data are consistent with the findings of several other investigations that have reported a decrease in T in individuals consuming a diet containing ∼20% fat compared with a diet containing ∼40% fat.”
So to all you guys currently trying to bulk on Oats and Whey, don’t forget your double cream too!
